In celebration of the publication of The Cinema of Joachim Trier by independent publisher Kopfkino, Arthouse Momo will host a special retrospective dedicated to the representative Norwegian director from June 19 to 30. The exhibition will highlight Joachim Trier’s work from his debut feature to his latest film.
Born in Denmark in 1974 and raised in Norway, Trier grew up deeply immersed in cinema—his maternal grandfather was one of Norway’s major modernist film directors, and both of his parents worked in film production. After studying filmmaking at the National Film and Television School in London, Trier went on to describe Oslo as his primary artistic material. Set against the backdrop of Norway's capital, most of his films capture the light, texture, and sounds of the city, while reflecting on the loneliness, identity, memories, and artistic pursuits of those who live within it.
